Becky Birch, retired IBM Manager

Becky Birch is a long standing Northshore School district volunteer and a retired senior IBM executive in Information technology.  Birch is a two time recipient of the Northshore PTA’s Golden Acorn Award and is highly decorated for other local and state wide PTA service.   She currently sits a representative to the Northshore School District Career and Technical Education General Advisory committee and a representative on the City of Bothell Traffic Advisory Committee for UW Bothell/ Cascadia, among other things. She is the mother of two NSD alums who are recent UW graduates  and both currently pursuing graduate education.  Birch is joining the Foundation board to continue her advocacy for education, and to continue to support the Northshore School District’s mission.

Curt Hayes, Electro Impact, Inc.

Curt Hayes, Lead Controls Engineer for Electro Impact, Inc has participated in his children’s education by supporting classroom trips and events.  He has joined the Foundation board to help make industry connections for the Foundation’s new S.T. E. M. Initiative.   S.T.E.M. is the nomenclature for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Says Hayes, “I am primarily interested in promoting STEM education while making sure that we don’t lose the rich and varied education that NSD currently offers.”

Davina Duerr, Connell Design

Davina Williams Duerr, senior architect for Connell Design was one of the originators of the Milk Money Campaign which raised over $1,500 for homeless youth in the Northshore District.  She currently serves as Chair of the Bothell Landmark Preservation Board,   Duerr has two children in the district and is an art docent in both their classrooms.  She is joining the board to help every family recognize and understand the Foundation’s critical role in supporting our school district.

George Ahearn, Evergreen Karate

George Ahearn, Owner of Evergreen Karate a local martial arts school that serves youth in the Northshore Area.   Ahearn serves on the board for the Bothell LiveARTS Program as well as on the UW Bothell Advisory Board for Nursing.  Ahearn is passionate about building strategic community partnerships that will help kids be successful.

Laura Brent, Brent Planning Solutions

Laura Brent owner of  Brent Planning   Solutions, has served as a Land use consultant in the Puget sound area for over 31 years and has served on the Providence Hospice & Home Care board and is serving on the Providence Hospice & Home Care Foundation board,     Housing Hope and HopeWorks boards.  She is a graduate of UW, and has served on Educational committees and booster.   As a parent of three adult children and a community member, Brent is joining the board of the Northshore Schools Foundation to support the learning opportunities of the students.
