Alexandria Nicole & Sumerian Brewery Tie in Lombardi’s Third’s Annual Beer vs. Wine for Northshore
In this Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant signature event, 46 supporters of public education accepted the mission to choose whether the beer pairings or the wine pairings matched the each of the delicious four courses created by Chef Andy Hilliard, This years contenders were Alexandria Nicole Cellars wines and Sumerian Brewery beers.
Event Chairs Dana Fialdini and Mary Mahon filled the room with lively guest who They also coordinated raffle auction with theater adventures, a night at Willlows Lodge and gift cards. The event raised nearly $5000 to support educational programming in the Northshore School District
“We do really important work supporting our students and public education in this Northshore community, but we sure know how to have fun doing it.” said Northshore Schools Foundation Executive Director Carmin Dalziel.
The Marketing team from Alexandria Nicole Cellars and Brewmaster from Sumerian Brewery spared head to head over each course, describing the craft and compliment of their beverage with each course featuring Oysters on the half shell, Chicken with Spicy Italian sausage cassoulet, and brie stuffed Beef Wellington..
Sumerian Brewery specialty beers included Lucidity Pilsner, Holy Water Citra IPA, Narcissism IPA, and Wicked Master Barreled Aged Stout. Alexandria Nicole featured four of their very best including their Sauvignon Blanc, Roussane, an unreleased Cabernet Sauvignon and Jet Black Syrah.
The pairing competition was neck and neck through the whole event, with each competitor taking 2 rounds The tie breaker instituted by Kris Korshaven, Lombardi’s General Manger which is a vote by vote count, also ended in a tie.
“It really is the guests who won at this event. They obviously equally enjoyed the beer and the wine, the food was delicious, and it’s a really economical night out with all the proceeds going to charity, said Dalziel. “This is an exclusive opportunity to interact with the wine and beer experts and the chef to truly explore all the tastes and truly acknowledge the art and experience of pairing your beverage with your food. The quality of food, wine and beer cannot be beat, and when you add in this jovial competition with crowd involvement it’s truly an experience you won’t forget” Said Dalziel.
