2010 Luncheon Thank You!
Friday, June 11th, 2010
The Northshore Schools Foundation seconds the sentiment of these adorable students and says THANK YOU to the nearly 260 business and community members who packed the Lynnwood Convention Center on Tuesday, May 25th for the 7th Annual Light a Fire for Learning Luncheon. It was a fantastic day, and thanks to many of you, a very successful event. By close of the Luncheon, attendees and additional friends of the Foundation raised over $76,000 in support of Northshore School District students and schools.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests and supporters,” says President Rob Pickering. ”It proves just how committed our community is in enhancing educational opportunities for all Northshore students. It is apparent that our guests and supporters realize that an investment in our students is an investment in our community. The level of support for our students and the Foundation’s initiatives is very encouraging, and makes this one of our most successful events ever.”
Proceeds from the Luncheon will underwrite the Foundation’s current list of programs and initiatives, including new instructional materials and leveled readers at the elementary level, new instructional material and textbooks for core curriculum advanced learning classes at the secondary level, innovative classroom grants District-wide, and support for teachers pursuing National Board Certification.
The Foundation offers hearty thanks to the hard-working team for this year’s Light a Fire for Learning Luncheon led by Karissa Webster and Kristin Austin, our Lead Sponsor, Cornerstone General Contractors and Premier Sponsors, Microsoft and Boeing, our Challenge Match Sponsor, our keynote speaker, Adam Cornell, and the students from instructor Geoffrey Gilmore’s Event Planning class at Inglemoor High School. Kudos also to Andy Wappler for serving as our event Emcee, and to our wonderful Table Captains for helping to fill the room.
It’s not too late to add to Light a Fire for Learning’s success by forwarding your tax-deductible donation to: Northshore Schools Foundation, 3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, WA 98021.
