Leota & Timbercrest Junior High Schools – March 9, 2017
Career Day 2017 for both Leota and Timbercrest will be held on March 9th, 2017 at their respective schools. Houston Kraft will be at Timbercrest in the morning and Leota in the afternoon which accounts for the staggered schedules.
Timbercrest’s Career Day
Timbercrest’s Career Day will run from 7:30am – 10:15 am as follows:
7:30 – 8:10 – Check-in
8:15 – 8:45 – Session I
8:50 – 9:25 – Session II
9:30 – 10:05 – Session III
10:15 – Check-out
Leota’s Career Day
Leota’s Career Day wil run from 11:45am – 2:30 pm as follows:
11:45 – 12:25 – Check-in
12:30 – 1:05 – Session I
1:10 – 1:45 – Session II
1:50 – 2:25 – Session III
2:30 – Check-out
All speakers should arrive at the respective school during the check-in window and expect to stay until the final session ends. Event volunteers should arrive 30 minutes before check-in starts and expect to stay 10-15 minutes afterwards for a quick debrief and event breakdown.
We are currently looking for speakers with trade/craftsmen careers (plumbers/electricians/horticulturist), business and marketing (non-stem), healthcare (other than pharmaceutical), education/professors (mathematician), social service providers, environmental scientists, researchers, robotics and inventors. This is our panelist “wish list” but we would appreciate and accept help from “any career” panelist to ensure our panel seats are full at both schools. If a panelist can speak at both school that would be ideal as well.
As a speaker at Career Day, each career panelist will be given approximately 5 minutes to share their career journey with each session of students in a small group setting. Student will then be given a chance to ask questions of the panel. The Q&A tends to be where panelists have a chance to share real life experiences and advice based on what is most top of mind for the students.
We are managing the speaker pool with Evite. If someone wants to sign up to help they can use the following links. Please make sure they note the school they can help at as well as the career path they would like to present. If they can present at both school, please have them sign up at both schools so we can accurately account for and communicate with our respective panelist.
We will be reaching out to all of the panelist and volunteers in mid-February with more information and details about the day. FBLA Regional Competition Friday, Feb 3, 2017
Our FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) high school students welcome your help. Our regional competition, with over 700 students competing (the states largest regional competition) is taking place in February. We are looking for industry and experienced individuals to spend a morning helping these students pursue their passions in over 70 different events.
With your help, we need to staff for over 100 judges and timers. If you, and/or any other friends/colleagues/associates can assist these students they will be extremely thankful. FBLA is rapidly growing in our communities and we would love to have you on board as we grow–now and in the future!
