Volunteer & Board Member
Be a Board Member
A Board Member is a volunteer leader who helps govern and guide the Foundation’s mission, strategy, and long-term impact. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Northshore Schools Foundation is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, who are community members and leaders who bring their skills, networks, and passion to ensure the Foundation operates with integrity, vision, and impact.
They help set the direction, open doors in the community, and ensure that every dollar we raise goes as far as possible for Northshore kids.
Complete our Board member application and a staff member will be in contact with you.
Be a Committee Member
Committee members are adult volunteers who contribute their expertise, ideas, and time to a specific area of the Foundation’s work. No board member seat required.
Committee members typically meet on a regular basis (monthly or as needed), collaborate with fellow volunteers, Board members, and Foundation staff, and bring their unique perspective to the work at hand. It’s a flexible, focused way to make a real impact.

Be a General Volunteer
Join us as a volunteer to help spread the word about the Foundation and support its events, programs, and fundraising efforts. We welcome everyone: professionals, parents, students, families, neighbors, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and teams!
The Foundation also offers opportunities for community service hours for students and employee engagement programs.
Volunteers can serve in various ways, including as a school Ambassador, event support, behind-the-scenes assistance, and more. We’ll work with you to find the best way your service can benefit Northshore youth, the Foundation, and yourself.
Complete our volunteer form and a Foundation staff member will be in touch with you for any opportunities.
Be a Backpacks for Kids volunteer
In 2024, we’re proud to have 30 adult and student volunteers joining us to assemble school supply kits and pack them into backpacks in late summer. We’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support this drive and warmly welcome everyone: teams, professionals, students, and community members alike.

Be an Ambassador for a Northshore school or program
Ambassadors are adult volunteers who connect their school community to Foundation resources, opportunities, and promote our fundraisers. As the Foundation’s representative at your school, you’ll help ensure students, staff, and families know about our pillars of service work, support available to them, and how we serve the District during the school year.
Many of our Ambassadors are Northshore parents, guardians, or PTSA members who want to make an even greater impact at their school.
Why do we have the Ambassador program? Having a school Ambassador significantly increases the chances that Northshore educators, staff, and students are aware of the resources and services the Foundation offers.
We welcome Ambassadors year-round. Complete our application today and a Foundation staff member will be in touch with you.

“Being an ambassador has helped my school stay more informed of the opportunities available for students and families in the Northshore School District. I have also had the opportunity to share FUNdraising events with our school which provides a way to hang out with school community parents as well as benefit all the NSD schools.“
– Former Foundation Ambassador
